The English Guide to Yahoo! Furima (PayPay Flea Market)
Yahoo! Furima (Yahoo!フリマ) — known until 2023 as PayPay Flea Market (PayPayフリマ) — is the fixed-price flea-market app in the Yahoo! Japan family, sitting alongside Yahoo! Auctions. It's Japan's third-largest secondhand app after Mercari and Rakuma, and it is by far the hardest for overseas buyers to even look at: the app refuses to run outside Japan, and the web experience is Japanese-only.
That barrier is precisely the opportunity. Inventory there gets a fraction of the international eyes that Mercari gets — the same item routinely sits longer and sells cheaper.
What's actually on it
The same categories that make Mercari famous — fashion, trading cards, figures, cameras, games — with heavy overlap in sellers but not in listings. Many Japanese sellers cross-post; many don't. Fees and campaigns differ between the apps, so plenty of inventory exists only on Furima. For collectors it functions as a second, quieter Mercari.
The overseas problem (and the workarounds)
The app is region-locked — install it abroad and you'll get an error. Proxy services solved the buying half: several of the majors integrate Yahoo! Furima directly, so once you have a listing URL, purchasing works exactly like a Mercari proxy order.
The finding half is harder.
