Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Japan Alerts (japanalerts.com, operated by Bonk Industries LLC — the data controller for this service) collects, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run an alerts service, we don't sell your data, and we don't run third-party ad trackers.
What we collect
- Account: your email address (used for sign-in links and account notices), plan tier, and billing status.
- Your configuration: the search alerts you create and the delivery endpoints you add (a Discord webhook URL, a Telegram chat reference, an email address, or a custom webhook URL).
- Service activity: which listings matched your alerts and whether notifications were delivered — shown to you as your feed and used for reliability (for example, disabling a channel that keeps failing).
- Payments: handled entirely by Stripe. Card numbers never touch our servers; we store only Stripe's customer/subscription references and status.
We use one strictly necessary session cookie to keep you signed in. No third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
What we do with it
Operate the Service (match listings to your alerts, deliver notifications, show your feed), bill subscriptions, send transactional email (sign-in links, verification, service notices), prevent abuse, and improve reliability. We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who processes data for us
- Stripe — payments and billing.
- Resend — sending email (sign-in links, verifications, alert digests).
- Cloudflare — networking, DNS, and security in front of the Service.
- Vultr — server hosting.
- Backblaze — encrypted backups of account data.
- DeepL — translating the search words you type (only the words themselves) into Japanese.
- Discord / Telegram — if you connect them, alert content is delivered to the endpoint you chose under those platforms' own policies.
Retention
- Marketplace listings we index are public data and are automatically deleted from our systems on a rolling basis (currently ~7 days), except listings referenced by your match history.
- Account data and alert history are kept while your account exists.
- Encrypted backups of account data are kept for up to 30 days.
- When you delete your account, everything above is erased. We retain only a one-way cryptographic hash of your email address (which cannot be reversed into the address itself) and whether the account had a subscription — used solely to prevent free-trial abuse.
Your choices and rights
- Email alert channels include one-click unsubscribe.
- You can edit or delete alerts and channels any time in the dashboard.
- To access, export, or delete your account data, email [email protected] — we'll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live (e.g., EU/UK GDPR, California CCPA), you may have additional statutory rights, which we honor.
Security
Transport encryption (TLS) everywhere, encrypted offsite backups, least-privilege access, and payment handling delegated to Stripe. No internet service can promise perfect security, but if we learn of a breach affecting your data we'll notify you promptly.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 18 and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We'll post updates here and, for material changes, notify you by email or in-app before they take effect.
